Urban Bike Station

Urban Bike Station
Fremont, Seattle, WA
Inspired by Fremont’s artistic eclecticism, this urban bicycle station aims to commingle local bikers, commuters, and pedestrians of the Fremont community.

The design process started with a smaller building, a roadside bicycle kiosk, which would provide coffee service, convenient bicycle parking, posted information, and an appealing urban space in the Fremont neighborhood.

Using the small bicycle coff ee shop design as a catalyst, the larger bike station project would house a bicycle repair shop, a cafe, a bicycle advocacy group office, and bicycle parking. This proposal celebrates the bicycle as an important urban thread in Seattle’s Fremont culture.
Proposal for an urban bike kiosk, an initial design step in the station design project. The kiosk features a simplified program, consisting of a coffee shop and short-term bicycle parking.
The Bike Station viewed in context at the intersection of North 35th Street and Evanston Avenue North, adjacent to the the famous "Fremont Rocket" landmark.
